2011 FALDP Second Annual Conference

Florida Association of Legal Document Preparers

Our second annual conference was a huge success. If you missed it, plan on attending next year. It is well worth the trip. We try to bounce around the state, for conference locations. Our first conference was in Daytona Beach. Next year, 2012, will likely be an east coast location too. Right now we are considering St. Augustine or the Ft. Lauderdale area. We try to choose locations to correlate with the highest concentration of members, and to be a generally central location.

We are open to suggestions regarding next year's conference location. If any member would like to co-host the event, the assistance is welcome.

Valuable Learning Experience

Many members work alone or in a small office, and rarely have the opportunity to network with colleagues. The conference provides a place to meet others in your field with similar business problems and challenges. We can learn a lot from one another.

Networking Opportunities

We are in this type of work and in this industry because we enjoy the work, and enjoy the priceless rewards. But, we can't know everything. Meeting colleagues at a conference provides an opportunity for members to meet someone to refer business to. For example, for a legal document preparer who does not handle document preparation for bankruptcies, knowing someone who does bankruptcy petition preparation, and who is someone they trust is invaluable.
Many thanks to our speakers, Julie Jefferson of Freedom Rings; and Melisa Thompson of You've Been Served. Their information was interesting, insightful, and engaging. The discussions were lively.
