Due to popular demand we will soon be adding more contact forms on our site for consumers to request services. These will be forwarded directly to members. Please follow the guidelines below to insure that you receive referrals.
We want to refer consumers to our members. There are certain things you can do to keep referrals coming your way.
Be responsive to us, and more importantly, be responsive to the customer. We hear about it from the customer if the document preparer we referred to doesn't answer the phone or return an email. If you're going on vacation and don't want referrals, please let us know. Likewise if you are too busy to take on any new business, let us know.
Try your best to respond to customers within 24 hours.
Make sure that your contact information is correct on the Member Directory. When a consumer requests help with documents, the first thing we do is go the Member Directory to find a member in
their county who prepares the documents they're looking for. Sometimes we call you on behalf of the customer.
Let us know what type of documents you prefer. And be specific. Many members prepare family law documents, but if you really enjoy a certain type, let us know.

We invite members, document preparers, and friends to answer the questions posted on our "Ask the Members" page. Please answer the question in a way that might provide valuable information to whomever is looking for similar information. Include a source for your information, such as a case or statute. Make sure that your answers are more than one line. A paragraph of at least three sentences is good. And, members are invited to include their contact information and website. If you have answered questions that were never posted, it may be because your answer was too short or did not include a source for your information.
Ask the Members
Most recent Webinar - Doing Business in the Digital Age
If you weren't there -- you missed it. Thirteen members participated; and all attendees were offered free months for the Virtual Provider listings on our site. Specials such as these are never announced in advance. Our next webinar will be announced soon. In March we will either be offering - Making the Most of Your Membership - to learn more about FALDP resources; or a UPL Summit - to share stories about the occupational hazard called the Florida Bar's allegations of unauthorized practice of law. Webinar invitations go directly from the webinar site - www.anymeeting.com - so please keep a look out for your next invitation.
We will soon be conducting a more complete update on the google map on our member directory. Please check the google map to make sure that your information is up to date and accurate. If you would like a scan of your business card or logo, added or updated, please send it to us via email. In the future, we plan to add member videos to the google map. We're working on it, but are having problems with configuration. If you are a coder or know a coder who would like to help on this project. Please contact us.
We Now Offer Website Design, Site Maintenance, and Content Editing or Content Creation
Some of the Turn Key Bundles include a website as a part of their bundle. We build a custom site using the content provided, then hand over the log in and password to the Turn Key Owner. Visit our
page. Or you can find it under Doc Preparers Resources on our site. We include site coaching sessions so that Turn Key Owners can learn how to make site updates and changes. However, we know that not everyone feels comfortable with site building, so we are now offering design services. We will take care of the site maintenance and make updates as requested. We will even build a completely new site for members who are not Turn Key Owners; or Turn Key Owners who need a second website.
Just Say NO
Most of us are not in this for the money. No doubt there is a reasonable income to be made, but the income is not the only reason to work as a legal document preparer. Most document preparers are drawn to the industry as a way to help others. And we do. We help people everyday, probably in more ways than we even know. We help consumers because we listen. We listen to their stories, tirades, and tragedies. Sometimes it gets to be too much. If a customer is too needy, too draining, too deluded, or just not cut out to self-represent - just say no. Always reserve the right to terminate your customer. (After fulfilling all obligations for which you accepted payment -- of course). I sometimes tell customers, that I am not the right person to help them. I try to tell them as gently as I can. In general, in family law I do not help people who are battling an abusive spouse. There are other resources for them, and although I feel for them, the energy required to help them is
beyond me. I do not help people who are being vindictive towards a spouse, the courts don't like that, the judge will catch on and admonish them, and things can easily backfire onto the document preparer. Also, the generally mad at the world angry people, are best left alone. Their anger, eventually, will be turned on you. And there are still others who have been wronged and want justice. Fair enough. But that doesn't mean they have a viable court case. Some people become obsessed with their cause, and even if they are willing to continually pay money to pursue it, if you feel that their cause is never going to succeed. You may need to consider suggesting they go elsewhere.
