This free newsletter is published every month for the benefit of FALDP members, legal document preparers, and friends. We hope it is informative, useful, and entertaining.
Many announcements will be published here first - and then added to the site.
We developed a Member Handbook to make your life easier. All of the information contained in it is available elsewhere on our site. But now, its all in one place. Please download it and save it in your computer. Although the information is not exhaustive, we're hoping it will answer most of your questions.
Our Living Trust and Estate Planning online course is open. We have sent an invitation to enroll to all members. It is free for members until 8/25/2012. We are adding the Living Trust and Estate Planning course to train members so that members can offer the FALDP Living Trust and Estate Planning System to consumers. Our Living Trust and Estate Planning System offers members an additional income stream. After 8/25 we will continue to offer the online course but it will no longer be free of charge. Members who want to be eligible to offer our System need to complete or meet the following:

Extraordinary Service Award
For the first time ever, we are offering an "Extraordinary Service Award" to one of our members. The award will be announced at our Conference, and you must be present to accept the award. You can nominate yourself, your business partner, or any other member. To do so, please send us a letter (via email is fine) describing the extraordinary service. We always try to help people, and feel we do good works, but we want to hear about your extraordinary works. Lately, a document preparer in Marion County told us that since the "Legal Sunshine" blog about indigent status was posted the clerks of court have stopped charging indigents for Summons -- and sent out a notice stating their new policy. FALDP staff has helped a man who moved to Florida for a job and then never paid by preparing his small claims documents at no charge. And, as a matter of course, FALDP staff offers a discounted rate for preparing divorce paperwork for indigent people.

We are dedicated to providing advanced and affordable estate planning documents that are state specific and up-to-date. Since we are not attorneys, we do not provide legal advice.
After years of witnessing people lose control of their family’s assets due to fraud, accident, illness, incapacity and again at death (Probate), James formed a system to educate people by providing information and documents to create solutions that allow families to control, protect, and distribute their estate. He saw the need for a company that would provide a straight forward estate planning process that is quick, convenient and affordable.

Guest Speaker, Joey Morales, Bio
Joey Morales became involved with the credit repair industry about 10 years ago while living in South Florida. He moved to the Jacksonville area and, in 2008, was introduced to Credit Justice Services, whose founder and CEO, Douglas Muir, had implemented a program focused on protecting the rights of consumers through adherence to all of the credit reporting laws and regulations. Since 2008, Joey and his team, have helped many individuals and families to achieve their credit related goals. Joey has assisted mortgage brokers to convert credit denials into credit approvals, and has helped real estate agents by referring buyers who are able to qualify for financing.
David Bass, Guest Speaker, Bio
David Bass is a Florida real estate expert, broker, and investor who relies on legal document preparers to complete the form sets he has compiled. As a private lender in this dismal economy, David found that paying attorney fees to foreclose his private mortgages was nowhere near cost effective. So, David developed a system for private lenders to foreclose their own loans which he has used successfully over and over again. As he used and evolved his system, he found that people - lenders and borrowers are hungry for solutions. He helps find them. Solutions and resolutions. If there is a better solution than foreclosure, David will show you how to get there.

~ THIRD ANNUAL CONFERENCE - SEPTEMBER 22 & 23 ~
We have negotiated a discount rate at the Hilton Bayfront where the Conference is to be held. The normal rate for rooms at that time of the year is $249. per night, based on a two night stay. The rate for conference attendees is $219. per night, based on a two night stay. Please contact the

There are some chain hotels near the historic district which we have yet to contact to negotiate attendee discounts. As we get closer to the dates we'll post more on our site. The chain hotels may be a good choice if you are traveling with family. By the end of this month we'll post a google map on the conference page showing you all the area hotels.
We will be updating the Google Map on the Member Directory page this month. Please make sure that your information is current and up to date. If we have your web address, we will add it to the Google Map. If you have more than one minor change to your listing please re-submit your listing the same way as you originally did when we sent you the Welcome to FALDP email. If you need that link again, please email and request it. We ask that members try to refrain from sending multiple changes to their listings through regular email as it adds extra work.

Here are my Top 11 Tips for making time for customer development.
Use to do lists everyday. Schedule your priorities.
Each year create a written plan of your professional goals. I usually do this in the downtime between Christmas and New Years.
Break down goals on the plan yearly into short term and long term goals. Be specific.
Every Sunday evening or Monday morning, create a to do list for the week.
Re-purpose original content which you have created for a specific audience to fit other audiences or formats. I transform research into articles and guides. I expand articles and guides into series.
Figure out what time of day is best for you to do your client development activities. (For me it is early mornings on Saturdays and Sundays).
Work with your full attention in segments. Avoid multi-tasking. Many experts recommend 20 minutes segments.
Delegate tasks to others when appropriate.
Keep a record of your customer development activities. Check off activities as you go.
Make a list of customer development activities you can do in 15 minutes or less.
Make a list of customer development activities you can do in down time, for example, while waiting for a flight at the airport.
Call For Mentors
If you are willing and able to mentor another document preparer in preparing Chapter 7 Bankruptcy documents please contact us. Mentors are needed to answer questions and clarify information. Please send us an email if you are willing and able to help out. We expect that mentoring relationships will be mutually beneficial to both the mentor and the mentored. Not only is the adage - "When you teach, you learn twice". so true, mentors are also likely to receive referrals from their protegees.
