Beyond Reason - True to Life Stories of Florida family law

by Ruth
(Florida)

I am a Florida legal document preparer, many of the people I talk to want me to help them with paperwork so that they can see their kids. Their stories are beyond reason. I listen to the stories every day.

Most of the time, I think people must be pouring their hearts out to me because no one ever listened to them before. I listen and ask questions, and I put their paperwork together.

Today I talked to a man that was trying to get custody of his fifteen year old son. The 9 year old stepbrother living in the household with the man’s ex and fifteen year old had tried to set the house on fire over and over. The 9 year old had been caught standing over his mother with a knife while she was sleeping.

An 11 year old boy, another stepbrother, living there was in juvenile hall for sexual battery on the 9 year old. The father, the man I talked to, was trying to get his son out of the situation, trying to do right by his son.

This is just one of many stories told to me.

WOW what a story! I hope the man was able to get his kid back and away from all of that craziness in his ex's house. It doesn't sound too safe. I wish more couples could just stay together and be happy for the sake of their kids, otherwise stuff like this happens.
