Dear Gregg H., First there seems to be some confusion, either the clerk of court gave you erroneous information, or you misunderstood. In Florida, all divorcing couples, (there may be an exception if you're filing a Simplified Dissolution), must file an Florida family law financial affidavit. You file one and your wife files one; and you each show your income, assets, debts, and liabilities. To divide your property, you probably need to file a Marital Settlement Agreement. That way, later on there can be no confusion as to who has what, and who owes what.
