The Membership Drive was a HUGE Success

We now have well over 50 members. Some of our newer members (and some long time members) have not yet completed the form to place their information in the Member Directory. You will be happier with your membership if you can see that you are receiving site traffic or phone calls from our site. We urge you to send your information so that you can be included in the Member Directory, and the Meet the Members page.

No charge for Premium Members - $10. for Basic Members will be billed after the webinar.

*The time for this webinar was shown in the last newsletter as 12:00 noon, but this time 11:00 a.m. EST is correct.

    Site Traffic

We surpassed a benchmark, whizzed by a milestone. In January for the first time ever FALDP had more than 100 unique hits per day. In fact we had an average of 112 uniques per day. Throughout the month that amounted to 3490 unique hits and well over 7000 site visits.

    Competition is Healthy

Competition is healthy, below board practices are not. We have heard recently that some of our members craigslist ads are being flagged. It appears that the flagging is being done by another legal document preparer. I don't know yet whether the flagger is an FALDP member. But, if the flagger is a member its time to stop, the behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Many members advertise on craigslist, and although craigslist has its perils, it is overall a good no cost way to advertise services.

Among other promises that each member entered into when joining FALDP is: To conduct my business ethically. We do not consider causing a competitor's ad to be removed from craigslist ethical business behavior. Following is the FALDP Pledge in its entirety:

As an FALDP Member I agree:

  • To refrain from offering legal advice.

  • To direct my customers to information so that they may make informed decisions.

  • To provide responsive customer service.

  • To comply fully with applicable state and federal laws.

  • To ensure clear and truthful advertising.

  • To clearly disclose costs and relevant terms.

  • To represent myself as a legal document preparer, and not as a paralegal.

  • To refer customers to an attorney for legal advice.

  • To conduct my business ethically.

  • To respect my customers’ privacy.

  • To keep in strict confidence my customers’ affairs, and not share information about a customer without that customer’s permission unless court ordered.

  • To support legislation promoting public access to the legal system.

    Online Courses

We are still trying to complete the course for Bankruptcy Chapter 7 to be released before the end of the month. It is still not quite ready. If you are interested in this course, please be patient. As soon as we get it ready for enrollment we will post that news on the Online Courses page and on the Member's Corner.

An Introductory course - Introduction to Florida Legal Document Preparation @ only $79. for preparing legal documents in Florida, and Preparing Florida Divorce Documents @ only $149. are open for registration.

Registration is open for the Intro course, and the Divorce course. The courses are geared toward legal document preparers who are new to the industry; new to Florida; or legal document preparers who want to expand their knowledge base. For LDP's new to the industry, or new to Florida, the Intro course is a requirement and a prerequisite for enrollment in the Dissolution of Marriage course.

    Your Feedback is Always Appreciated
If you have completed either of our courses and have suggestions we would love to hear from you. We need to know how we're doing. Too difficult? Too easy?

    Self-Help Legal Guides

Don't forget that we also publish Self Help Legal Guides. These are useful tools to provide to customers as loss leaders or to help educate consumers. Some consumers are perfectly able to prepare their own documents and all they need is to do their research and educate themselves thoroughly. Meet the Members

The “Meet the Members” page on our site is nearly finished. If we don't have a photo of you please send one so that we can post it next to your information. We can also post your business card if you like. I recently learned that the suggestion for this page came from none other than my assistant/ LDP, Julian Beyer. The

Meet the Members page is coming along beautifully. The Member Directory was not set up to accommodate pictures or graphics -- and this is.

If you Could Change the World ...

If you could change the world -- what would it be? World peace comes to mind, but is a little vague and a very tall order. What specific changes would you like to see? Please brainstorm with me about petitions we could create to help change the way things are. Here are some of my ideas:

  • Decriminalize UPL.
  • Create a new legal services structure that includes "legal practitioners" similar to nurse practitioners in medicine.
  • Allow court clerks to give helpful customer service.

What can you add? Can you help me write a petition?

Make a Difference - Protect Your Online Privacy

Please join us, in signing the google petition. Ken Envoy who is the owner and founder of SBI the hosting company for this website started the following petition to try to make google tell the whole story about their new privacy policy. Google's privacy policy is set to change on March 1. If you have a gmail account or use any google services you have probably noticed the message that comes up. Please read the text of the petition and sign it if you agree. As Paul Harvey used to say it's - The Rest of the Story: - Google - Ask Fairly About Our Privacy
