    Goal Setting for 2014

    Over the holidays I make multiple lists of my goals for the new year. I have done so for at least the past ten years. As I make the new year's list, I review last year's list to see whether I reached, surpassed, or discarded my previous year's goals. If a goal is still important, and I haven't reached it yet, I transfer it onto the goal list for the coming year. I break my goal list down into categories to include travel, family, financial, business, etc. Sometimes I find that a goal is not important anymore, and simply discard it.

    Business Goals for 2013 which we reached include:

    Offer more classes - specific classes changed from what I had originally planned, however, I am pleased that we now offer eight classes.

    Streamline and enhance FALDP site - the site is more manageable now with two separate navigation systems - one for consumers and one for document preparers -- however I don't think my job here will ever be complete - it is an ongoing adventure.

    Increase FALDP membership - I am pleased with the progress, we now have around 100 members, however, this is also a never ending goal.

    Surviving Paypal Chargebacks

    A week or so ago, I received an email message from paypal stating that a portion of my funds were on hold due to a customer charge back. Upon reading the information in the paypal resolution center, I learned that this customer had claimed that a payment was unauthorized. The transaction was in August, but there is no time limit in the credit card rules for charge backs for unauthorized payments. How I supposedly had made an unauthorized payment, I still don't know. The very nature of paypal is such that, the member never has the purchaser's card information.

    Anyway, as soon as I received the email from paypal, I uploaded several files into the resolution center. These included a few of the emails between the customer and me. One in particular from in the customer stated the exact amount of the payment, and that she would be making payment that evening. I also uploaded the Disclosure and Disclaimer from my site - I explained to paypal in my cover email that customers cannot access the payment features on my site without acknowledging that they have read and accept my policies, disclaimer, and disclosure.

    I called paypal the next day to see about having the hold released from my funds. The customer service agent, immediately reviewed the dispute files, saw what I had uploaded, and released the hold then and there.

    I had never had a dispute with this customer. She had never said she was the least bit dissatisfied. The payment in question was her initial payment, and she had made two subsequent payments since. I can only guess that she wanted some extra Christmas money, and thought I was a good target. Wrong!

    Updated Google Map

    The Google Map on the Member Directory has been updated. Please check it to make sure that your information is correct.     We Now Offer Website Design, Site Maintenance, and Content Editing or Content Creation

    Turn Key Bundle Owners are entitled to a website as a part of their bundle. We build a custom site using the content provided, then hand over the log in and password to the Turn Key Owner. Visit our Website Design page. Or you can find it under Doc Preparers Resources on our site. We include site coaching sessions so that Turn Key Owners can learn how to make site updates and changes. However, we know that not everyone feels comfortable with site building, so we are now offering design services. We will take care of the site maintenance and make updates as requested. We will even build a completely new site for members who are not Turn Key Owners; or Turn Key Owners who need a second website.

    Member's Announcements & Contributions

    We accept member's announcements and appreciate your contributions. If you have an announcement about your business, an expansion of services, moving your offices, or winning awards, please send us the information and we'll include it in our newsletter. Your announcement needs to be pertinent to your business, we are unable to include announcements about other trade associations, clubs or groups.
