Time to Renew

All memberships renew on June 1. New members who joined in April or May do not need to renew until June 1, 2014. The annual membership fee is still only $65. And through June 30, we're offering a discount for new and renewing members who also want to attend our Fourth Annual Conference.

Through June 30, new members and renewing members can combine their conference registration fee with their membership fee for substantial savings. For only $99. new and renewing members can pay for their annual membership and reserve their space in our Fourth Annual Conference on September 21, 2013. This represents a $41.00 savings! The conference fee is $75. if paid by itself.

Bricks & Mortar/ Virtual Hybrid
For July we are planning another UPL Summit for which we invite document preparers around the country to compare notes on the unauthorized practice of law in other jurisdictions. We're also in the process of putting together our "Pro Se Boot Camp Webinar Series". These will be open to consumers and designed to empower them as they proceed through the court system. We need volunteers to help plan and implement these webinars. If you can help, please contact us.
As you may have noticed we have developed several designation badges that appear on your Mini-Page. The badges coincide with the document preparation services you advertise -- Family Matters, Bankruptcy Help, Landlord/Tenant, Bankruptcy Help, Mediation, Estate Planning, Probate, Immigration, and Translation. These icons are placed on members' Mini-Pages and linked to a page listing document preparers who prepare each type of document. Members do not necessarily need to have completed one of our courses to display the designation badges. You simply must be proficient at preparing those legal documents. We are in the process of developing a few of the pages that we lack. If you offer services which are not represented by an icon on your Mini-Page, please let us know so that we can adjust your listing.
New Member Handbook
We have updated our Member Handbook to reflect current policies. Nothing substantial has changed, except that we no long offer Basic Membership. We will be adding new types of membership later this year, so for the time being, all memberships are Premium. The purpose of the Member Handbook is so that members can have member information all in one place, instead of having to look through several web pages to find information. The Member Handbook is on the Membership page, and you can also download it here:
You asked, and we're answering. Several members have asked about listing their services in additional counties. And many members already serve the entire state virtually. We are now offering an add-on to your membership so that you can list your services all over Florida. Florida has 67 counties; for only $30. over and above your membership you will be able to list your services throughout the state. We're in the process of working out the details and expect to have all of the pertinent information posted on our Membership Page and the Member's Corner.
New Online Course - Immigration Document Preparation
Now open for registration. This course includes fundamental information about the basic immigration scenario in which a U.S. Citizen sponsors a foreign spouse. The course includes USCIS forms; links to more resources; and a final exam. After completing the exam, students can request a Certificate of Completion.

Todd Winninger - "Teach Your Customers How To Handle Themselves in Court" - Todd Winninger has been a Floridian for 14 years, previously a Texan and grew up in Ohio. A pro-se litigant for 30 years, primarily to stand up for his rights, get a refund, make a point and have the last word. His cases involve negligence, breach, TCPA, slander and libel usually in County and sometimes in Circuit Court. He takes on attorneys, works with private investigators, navigates judge’s chambers and regulatory/licensing agencies.
“I figure it out as I go,” says Winninger – “good research, good writing , a decent gene pool and persistence has worked for me.” When not in court, Winninger makes a living as a funeral director.
Paul Johnson - "Nothing Happens Until Somebody Sells Something" Paul Johnson, a graduate of George Mason University, has worked in the pet care industry for 30 years. During that time he has learned how to educate practitioners in the best ways to serve their customers, and expand their businesses. It turns out these principles apply to any business, including legal document preparation. Johnson has expanded his own business activities to include public speaking and new business development.
